What a fantastic day photographing Rachel & Luke’s wedding. I loved shooting at Darwin Lake and being a wedding photographer, I get to shoot at fantastic wedding venues like Darwin Lake. Love it that I shoot weddings for a living. I get to buy all the latest camera equipment (toys, I mean work tools!) and Photograph supercool happy couples in some of the most fabulous wedding venues like Darwin Lake. What’s not to like? Darwin Lake 4-Star Wedding Venue
This amazing Peak District wedding venue is perfect for couples who love an outdoor setting. Set on 20 acres of beautiful scenery and with its own lake. Weddings can be in the beautiful Darwin Hall or outdoors so you have the best of both worlds for your wedding. Whichever setting you choose, your wedding photographs can only result in gorgeous images with such an amazing wedding venue. Licensed for civil ceremonies, Darwin Lake can be the perfect all-in-one-place wedding venue.
There are 17 4-star stone cottages on site so you can have all of your wedding guests for weekend celebrations or the venue can be used for one-day celebrations too. You can have your ceremony in Darwin Hall or on the lawn right on the gorgeous lake and babbling brook. The hall can accommodate 130 wedding guests on either floor. The stone cottages can accommodate from 16 up to a whopping 110 guests so you can really have an amazing weekend wedding with virtually all of your wedding guests! Bridal preparations in Darwin Lake
The bride was having her bridal preparations in the lovely Dovedale cottage while the Groom was just a stone’s throw away with his groomsmen in the Hassop cottage. It was so much fun photographing both the bride and groom opening their wedding presents from each other. very special moments captured forever. It was so easy to pop between the cottages as the groom put on his suit with the help of his groomsmen and a little champagne! Things were a little more civilized in the bride’s cottage as she had her makeup applied, her hair made up and finally putting on her wedding dress with the mother of the bride’s help! It was a great moment photographing her dress reveal to the father of the bride and her bridesmaids! It was soon time for the bride to grab her flowers and jump in the wedding car with her father to head to the church.
Church Wedding Ceremony
The happy couple chose the fabulous Our Lady and St Joseph Catholic Church to tie the knot. I love photographing church wedding ceremonies, it really does add a lot of drama to the wedding day! The priest was amazing and very funny, so lovely to capture so many amazing moments during the exchange of rings and vows. It wasn’t long before the newlyweds were signing the registry and walking back down the aisle. I quickly arranged the wedding guests outside the church for a mega confetti throw!!
Back To Darwin lake For The Drinks Reception!!
The bride and groom whizzed back to the fabulous Darwin Hall to be greeted by their adoring friends and family. A couple of glasses of bubbly later and we were ready to photograph the family groups before the wedding breakfast was served.
Super speeches at The Wedding Breakfast
After the happy couple were introduced to the wedding breakfast there was superb entertainment served up by the very talented Howard wing. What a funny guy, and talented performer, he had the guests up off their seats loving every minute!
Some amazing, heartfelt speeches by the father of the bride, the groom, and the best men. It is one of my favorite parts of the day to photograph as it can get very emotional indeed.
First Dance Ends a Perfect Wedding Day
It’s always surprising how quickly the wedding day goes and Rachel & Luke’s Darwin lake wedding was no exception. The wedding guests loved the first dance and almost the whole of the wedding party were dancing afterward, a tribute to the master DJ. What a way to end a fabulous wedding day at Darwin Lake. The whole dancefloor was bouncing for at least an hour.
