Gilpin Lake House Wedding Photographer
When Elle & Joe asked me to be their wedding photographer at Gilpin Lake house I was over the moon. This was only the second time I have photographed at this wonderful wedding venue, and I was really looking forward to the happy couples big day. It is wedding venues like Gilpin Lake house that make it such a buzz to be a wedding photographer. It is an amazing secluded 3 level house set in 100 acres with it’s own lake. In the heart of the Lake District It feels very special indeed. With an outside marquee right on the lake for the wedding ceremony and its own Michelin-starred chefs it is a stunning venue to be a wedding photographer. It really was an intimate wedding with only 12 people including the bride and groom. As a wedding photographer, this really allows me to explore the relationships between my clients and the most important people in their lives.
Bridal Preparations at Gilpin Lake House
For her bridal preparations, the bride was in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids and flower girls. The room has loads of windows for lots of lovely light to take great photographs and has fabulous views of the lake. The groom and his father (and registrar!) were having their wedding preparations in another part of the lake house. The view of the lake was simply stunning as the bride put on her dress with the help of her bridesmaids. It was soon time to grab her flowers ready to meet her fiance!
Wedding Ceremony at Gilpin Lake House
Gilpin Lake House is such a fab place to have the wedding ceremony. As the bride walked with the father of the bride who was giving her away, the sun shone through the trees and illuminated the room. Such a beautiful ceremony and a few laughs during the exchange of rings and a few tears from the mother of the bride as the couple exchanged their vows. It was time for the couple to sign the marriage certificate with help from the witnesses.
After the ceremony, everybody headed back to the bar room for the drinks reception. Lots of confetti and hugs were showered on the newlyweds as everybody enjoyed the champagne and canapés. A quick set of formal family portraits got everybody back enjoying themselves as the bride and groom went for a walk around the grounds for their photographs together. I don’t do any awkward posing, just ask you to walk around enjoying the time together. We can then capture some more meaningful photographs which are real moments. We also had the boat on the lake for the afternoon which looked amazing in the photographs. I was personally thanked by the bride and groom for making them feel comfortable as they confessed to not liking their photographs taken! I was genuinely surprised as the shoot had gone so well and we had lots of laughs while capturing some great portraits.
Photographing the Evening reception at Gilpin Lake House
The amazing wedding day continued with some emotional speeches. There were some emotional moments when the bride’s grandad gave a short speech. It was soon time to cut the cake and have the first dance with lots of family and friends joining the happy couple on the dance floor.
