Summer Marquee Wedding Photographer
Looking to have a summer marquee wedding? What better way to get married than in a beautiful marquee in the English countryside? I have shot Summer Marquee weddings in Tipis, Yurt’s and classic marquees in locations as diverse as Stately homes, a parent’s farm and the bride’s family home back garden! (It was a big garden). There is certainly something to be said about a marquee wedding in the English countryside. The fresh air, birdsong and lots of adoring family and friends around you add up to a smashing summer wedding day. If you like summer marquees check out my Fordhall Organic farm wedding photographer page.
Amy & Thomas had the great fortune of having a parent living in an old disused farm in the Yorkshire countryside. (Complete with old machinery and a duck pond). So it was an easy decision for them to hire a marquee for the perfect Summer Marquee wedding. With Welly wanging to look forward to I couldn’t wait to get my camera out, as it was my first wedding after the Lockdown. And what a wedding it was! The energy was nearly fit to explode as both the bride and groom and family and friends let it all out. To see more of my work check out my Portfolio Page.
Bridal preparations
Amy was having her bridal preparations in a lovely cottage a mile or two down the road from the marquee with her bridesmaids and mum. It was a little misty when I arrived in the morning with my cameras, ready to capture some great photographs of the bridal preparations. The time quickly passed as the girls sipped some bubbly and put the finishing touches to their hair and make-up. Amy was helped into her wedding dress just as the flowers arrived in the nick of time. It was soon time for the bride to grab her flowers and be whisked off in her wedding car; a beautiful, classic Karmann convertible Beetle driven by her uncle! Although I am a Liverpool wedding Photographer, roughly 50% of my weddings are all over the UK and it was great to visit Yorkshire to spend the day with Amy & Tom.
Here are some of my favourite photographs from Amy & Tom’s Summer Marquee wedding. I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was just a stone’s throw from the marquee, with hay bales as seats for the wedding guests, the rustic farm vibe was in full swing. The groom had brought his classic Harley Davidson motorbike with him. (Maybe he was thinking of driving off into the sunset with his bride). When I arrived with my cameras, the groom and his best men were busy greeting the wedding guests with tales of past welly wanging triumphs. As the guests sat down Amy arrived in her wonderful wedding car. A pristine classic convertible beetle. The bride was then escorted by the father of the bride down the aisle to her nervous and excited groom. It was such a pleasure photographing many, many happy tears from the mother of the bride and groom and nearly every guest during an amazing wedding ceremony.
Lots of tears of joy later, the rings exchanged and the register signed it was time for the happy couple to waltz on down the aisle to massive cheers and a glass of bubbly. A great start to a very eventful drinks reception.
Welly Wanging Drinks Reception
After being showered with confetti by an adoring crowd, it was time for a few drinks at the drink’s reception. Amy & Tom had some fun activities for their wedding guests!
Tom took his welly wanging seriously and had a personal customized size 10 welly which he hoped to dominate all comers who threatened to take his welly wanging crown. It was my first time photographing welly wanging as part of a wedding drinks reception and it was lots of fun to watch and photograph! I love unusual things to photograph during a wedding, and welly wanging ranks high up there with the most fun things I have photographed!
Epic Speeches
After epic speeches from the father of the bride and Groom, it was unfortunate that the best man was unable to leave Australia due to restrictions and so he was not able to attend the wedding. Although the next best thing he could do is record a hilarious speech that had the wedding party in an uproar, with some great anecdotal tales from his misadventures with the groom.
First Dance
As is always the way, the first dance came far too early as the day had flew by. I’d had such an amazing time taking pictures of a top wedding with all guests on top form and it was nearly time to go. With massive cheers ringing in their ears, the happy couple took to the dancefloor for their first dance. They soon invited up the rest of the wedding party to join them on the dance floor. The mother of the bride and the rides aunt stole the show with some nifty golden trainers with lights in the soles! A top day with Amy & Tom, two beautiful souls and their amazing friends and family. it was a great way to kick off my wedding season. All the best for the future you guys!
